180,000 bugs in every fully autonomous vehicle are like an open door to cyber criminals, says GlobalData

Many autonomous vehicles are not fully protected against cyberattacks, with GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company, estimating that there may be up to 180,000 bugs in the code operating a level 5 autonomous vehicle*— potentially leaving hackers with 15,000 security vulnerabilities to choose from.

GlobalData’s latest report, ‘Cybersecurity in Automotive – Thematic Research’, stresses the importance of defending all of the infrastructure upon which connected cars rely, noting that we are entering a ‘Code War’ era, where every digital device—no matter how small—can be weaponized.... more here

No one has won the British Grand Prix more times than Lewis Hamilton whose total of eight stands as a record. However, when it comes to home-GP wins, it’s a record that has been eclipsed by Michael Schumacher who won his home GP nine times.

Will Lewis and Mercedes overcome their car’s handling issues to allow the British driver to draw level with Schumacher this weekend?

Interestingly, Lewis took pole position for his first British GP in 2007 and won the race for the first time a year later, the same year in which he clinched his first world championship title.

All Hamilton’s British GP wins were all achieved at Silverstone while Schumacher’s are divided between Hockenheim (4) and the Nurburgring (5) which, for the purists, were billed as German and European Grands Prix respectively.

The pair join three current drivers who have triumphed at home; Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.

F1 fans will remember Jody Scheckter’s win for Tyrrell at Kyalami in 1975.
