Problem Solvers

There are facts and problems. Facts we can do nothing about. Problems we can solve.

Facts are things like our Government not doing anything logical, helpful, or smart to promote the tons and tons of incredible opportunities this country presents for local, regional and international travellers. Covid and all its side effects are not going away any time soon.

As guest house owners and operaters, we face problems like:

  • How are we going to keep our properties open and operating?
  • How can we squeeze more out of less? Staff, resources, facilities…
  • How are we going to book rooms at lower rates without dropping standards?
  • How can we learn to get by without the stuff we thought was essential in previous years?

I had some great feedback from Johannes Loubscher, the attorney we recommended a year back. He secured payouts for his clients from the insurance giants. So, for those who had the insurance and for those who stuck with the programme, well done!

Until next time,

Keep strong and keep going!

Regards,

Richard Lendrum

Amendment to Level 4 lockdown regulations

An amendment to the latest Gazette was made allowing all rooms to be available. But your guests should still wear masks and keep their social distance when they are in shared spaces on your property.

Guests may transit through Gauteng

Travellers can still transit through Gauteng and OR Tambo International Airport (confirmed by the TBCSA). If needed, they may also stay over in accommodation while they are in transit. It is a good idea to tell these guests to have their itinerary, air ticket and booking details for their visit to another province with them at all times.

Any road transport operators who need to take guests from Gauteng to another province or country can do so with a working permit (details in the Gazette)

Workers might receive TERS benefits

The Minister of Labour said Government was considering extending TERS benefits for workers laid off due to Government shutting down certain industries over the lockdown period.

All other travel is permitted

All other guests with international or domestic bookings (outside of Gauteng) can still travel to your property to experience your safe and comfortable hospitality.
