Gauteng branches take customers to visit Columbus Stainless Steel Mill

For the first time, NDE Gauteng hosted a large group of customers on a tour of the Columbus Stainless Mill in Middleburg, Mpumalanga. This took place on Tuesday 21st November. Over 40 customers attended along with 11 NDE staff members. This was a first for both NDE and Columbus and was a hugely successful event. Guests were treated to an extremely interesting tour of the Mill facility and lunch afterwards.

Farewells for Ros Nortjé and Manie Olivier

After over 20 years of service, Manie retired at the end of October. A celebration braai was held in his honour at Johannesburg branch. The retirement braai was a joyous celebration of a well-deserved milestone. Colleagues gathered, sharing stories and memories of Manie's illustrious career. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, gratitude and a sense of admiration for Manie's accomplishments, making it a truly memorable and heart-warming event. His warehouse team also undertook a collection to get him a gift – the blanket pictured below.

The Gqeberha team held a surprise farewell party for Ros Nortjé who retires at the end of November after 33 years of service.

Four ex-staff members attended, including former Branch Manager Logan Moodley who worked alongside Ros for many years. A fabulous send-off for a fabulous lady. She was gifted an air fryer which was also a big surprise!

We bid a final farewell to Philip Mashigo

It is with great sadness that we say a final farewell to Philip Mashigo who passed away on 20th November 2023. He was laid to rest on Saturday 25th November.

Philip worked as a Warehouse Assistant and was employed permanently with NDE for 17 years. Prior to that he was employed via a labour broker at NDE for 6 years. He worked alongside his wife, Elisabeth, who is also a member of the Joburg team. He leaves behind Elisabeth and four children – three sons and one daughter. He will be greatly missed by everyone and we are devastated by his loss. Please join us in sending love and condolences to his family. We also send love and support to all of his colleagues who are grieving his great loss.

May he rest in peace.

As this is the final edition of In the Loop for 2023, we will be wishing those who celebrate their birthdays in both December and January.

My sister, Veronica, is a Senior Costing Controller at Head Office and she has been with NDE for 25 years!
